RYKA - American Women Demand you make our favorite shoe: RYKA N-Gage Instructor Shoe

ATTENTION RYKA Management!

I get calls every week from women desperate to find a shoe that has been their absolute favorite shoe since they bought their first pair.  You (RYKA) have deemed we don't need it anymore, and have discontinued making it.  My blog is volunteering to be a sounding board for all women who want you to make this shoe again.  We will buy it!  We will buy lots of them!  I currently own six versions of this shoes and I alternate them because IT IS THE ONLY SHOE THAT I CAN EXERCISE IN!
Because I sell RYKA shoes on my website www.splashinternational.com, I am inviting women to voice their opinion here so I can meet their needs for exercise. I will be contacting the RYKA company with your requests so the more posts I get, the better! Please be sure to give your first name, where you live (city and state) and why you like this shoe!   The shoe is the RYKA N-Gage Instructor Shoe

Still looking to lose some more weight, but I'm making progress.  No gluten, no bread, no starches...the cellulite is going away along with extra around my middle.  It is still going to take more, but I'm getting there!
Any suggestions?

Esther Williams - Watch her this winter with a blanket and cup of hot chocolate!

Have you watched the Esther Williams movies?  As it gets colder, order the movies on-line (you have to get all of them, all are amazing), curl up on the sofa, and get a hot chocolate and indulge yourself!  These movies are classics!  And better yet, read Esther's autobiography, "The Million Dollar Mermaid" in conjunction with watching the movies...

Esther is gorgeous...She is truly a swimmer (qualified for the Olympic team) and her swimming sections are works of art.  She started synchronized swimming as we know it now with her amazing routines in the water. And the fashions!  They are to die for!  Please bring back all of these styles, NYC and London and Paris!

Anyway, to wet your appetite, here are some photos of the classic Hollywood beauty, who by the way is 5'8" tall (and so am I!)

GLUTEN is the KEY to weight loss! (Plus exercise!)

Try these Dolfin Victor Goggles -
                                           they are amazing! WINNER!

So, I have added two new facebook pages, one for SPLASH! International, Inc. and the other for SPLASH! Swim School. Here's the link to SPLASH! International, Inc.1 Please go there and be my friend and comment!https://www.facebook.com/SplashIntlInc

So here is what I have discovered about losing more weight.  I have taken the advice of my daughter and cut out gluten!  WOW!  What amazing changes!  No more bloating, my joints feel great and the tummy fat is finally going away for good.  I am swimming a lot and walking and jazzercizing...And oh yes! I added gymnastics where I work out once or twice a week and it has helped my strength amazingly. I notice it now when I swim and bike and  scull.

And the other thing I almost immediately noticed when cutting out gluten is that my tummy doesn't hurt when I eat, now...I feel so much better, not nearly as hungry, so that stuff must be really bad for you!  And it's not hard to cut out bread and eat the gluten-free dishes at restaurants. I joined PACE CLUB with Speedo.com and I am currently swimming form San Francisico to LA.  When I get there I will start my swim from LA to San Francisco...That trip idea came after I flew to San Francisco to teach a private swim lesson for a week at a home on Belvedere Island overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge.  What a great job! I would love to travel around the country and team people to swim at their private pools. All in all everything is going well other than I could use some sales on my website.  I am getting ready to add all of the great new 2013 suits for Dolfin, Ocean, Uglies, Speedo, Reebok, FINIS, and SPLISH! These are the best suits fro exercising in water and it's always fun to have matching caps and goggles. Speaking of goggles, I have to put a plug in for the new Dolfin Victor Goggles.  Started wearing them three weeks ago and now I cannot stant Speedo Vanquishers any longer...no leakage, and they look great on! Keep swimming and soon I will be adding to the water exercise section.  After teaching eight deep water classes a week at the end of the summer, I needed a little break from water exercise...Also, when I am swimming in a contest like Speedo's, I stay focused!  The next contest will be Valley Health Turkey Trot where I combine biking, swimming, and running. That carries me into Thanksgiving adn I usually win that conteset becaseu of my swimming distances and biking distances.  I have a racing bike and go out on 20 mile runs in the country...I love it this time of year! Stay fit and share your stories, including successes and failures...

What really works to slim down the tummy and back fat

Last summer, let's face it, I gained weight...With a different routine, I wasn't working out like I normally do...Those of you who know me, KNOW I work out a lot!  Even with increasing the number and type of workouts each week, I just was not losing the tummy bulge and back fat (you  know, that pesky fat right above the hip bones that is empasized every time you wear a nice -fitting pair of jeans?).

So I had just about given up hope of ever returning to my old shape.  Until I stated teaching my deep water exercise classes this summer.  I suddenly noticed that the fat was evaporating!  Now, I do shallow water exercise year-round, but that wasn't doing the trick.  It is definitely deep water and specifically it is intervals training with deep water running and wall runs combined with wall crunches.  Five to six sets of intervals with fast runs from pool wall to pool wall with rebounding  runners lunges switching off quickly interspersed with intervals of kick-backs off the wall that burns the calories like nothing else.  Pool crunches work better than land crunches for this reason - you are resisting gravity while having your shins on the pool wall and your back in the water.  If your pool is flush wiht the wall, get a synchro nose clip and go under water to crunch. It tightens up the back muscles as well as tighentng the ab muschles.  And of course, don't forget to try to touch the navel to the spine while you do your crunches to keep that ab muscle flat while you strenghen it!

Try these two workouts and let me know what you think!  We suggest ditching the belts and vests and going to spats and gaitors to free up the mid-section for heavy breathing while you run and freedom for the core while you pump the ab crunches on the wall.  Plus the gaitors help you keep your legs on the side of the pool because they prevent leg slippage.

Let me know if these exercises work for you! Have a great summer!
